By John Stenen “I don’t go to Church! My father-in-law is a minister and I don’t care what his sermon is about, he would change it every time just to condemn me.” The young man I was talking to, worked in a large machine shop where I was working.
His marriage was in grave trouble, because he was a heavy drinker. I prayed asking the Holy Spirit to give me divine favor with this man, as I tried witnessing to him about Jesus. I knew that if he surrendered to Christ, he could get his life and marriage to where it ought to be; - one filled with love and peace.
I would share a little bit, of how much God loved him and died for him, and then I felt as if the Holy Spirit was leading me to just leave him alone for a day or two, -sometimes a whole week. Soon, his anger subsided and he would listen to the gospel. It wasn’t too long before he was asking me lots of questions concerning the Bible.
Approximately six months later, he invited Jesus Christ into his heart and became a born-again Christian. He soon overcame the drinking problem and he and his wife joined a good Church, knowing that he had to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. Jesus is the answer to all of man’s problems.
