By John Stenen When my wife and I were young Christians in the 1970’s, we attended a prayer meeting each Tuesday night in North St. Paul with about 250 - 300 other Christians. These were Christians from all the major denominations. They all had such a love for the Lord Jesus Christ, and one another; and many came to the meetings and were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, (Eph. 5:18).
The worship and praise was wonderful and the presence of God was so real. Many supernatural healings occurred; it was a layman that brought a very simple gospel message and we would all pray. We just loved Tuesday evenings and always looked forward to it. The leadership always stressed what it really was to be a true, born-again, Christian (John 3:3); to follow Jesus and obey His Word. Everyone seemed so genuine. My wife and I look back to those days with such fond memories and wish it could be like that always, throughout the Churches.
Psalm 133:1 says, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.” Ephesians 2:8-10 tells us that we are saved by grace through faith and we cannot be saved by our works (which many today believe will save them). If we cannot believe together in that truth - how can we be ‘one in Christ.’ Are you truly saved? Washed in the blood of Christ and not only water? I hope so. God bless.
