By John Stenen More than seven hundred years before Christ was born in Bethlehem, the prophet Isaiah wrote in the 53rd chapter, that the Messiah would suffer greatly. Our Lord would be ‘smitten and afflicted by God’. Jesus of course bore our sin but also, our sickness on the cross, and with His stripes we are healed. Peter later said in the New Testament “.....by whose stripes you were healed.” -1 Pet. 2:24.
Many Christians have been taught that supernatural healing has been done away with, and replaced by the medical profession. They have also been taught that Isaiah was only talking about spiritual healing, not physical healing. If that is true then why in Matthew 8:14-17 do we see Jesus casting out devils and healing all who were physically sick, including Peter’s mother-in-law? -Scripture says it is a fulfillment of what Isaiah prophesied. Hebrews 13:8 tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Psalm 103:3 says, “He forgives all of our iniquity and heals all our diseases.
I believe our problem today is that we have more faith in medicine than we do in God, and His many promises such as: ”Whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.” God bless.
