By Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardener Prune spring flowering shrubs, like lilacs, once they are done blooming to encourage development of young shoots that will bear flowers next year.
Mow lawns to a height of 2-3 inches. If kept at this height, the remaining blade will shade the ground.
If there is less than one inch of rainfall per week, plan to water your plants. Water deeply rather than frequently. Containers may need daily moisture.
