Myles Timmerman and Mauricio Garcia have been working with the elementary physical education classes to increase their activity through Hoops for Heart. They have worked on basketball skills and drills to give kids a fun way to increase the amount they exercise.
The boys teach the students different games and fun things to play, then chart their activity level as time goes on to try and use the FCCLA National Program “Student Body” to make their lives better.
Grace Sawadogo, Mara Clarke, and Brynlee Farris packed hospital bags for patients at the Sanford Hospital. The girls bought supplies to fill 12 personal hygiene bags for those at Sanford Children’s Specialty Clinic in Sioux Falls.
Each bag contained a hair brush, ponytail holder, toothbrush, toothpaste, body wipes and deodorant.
They packed the bags and then delivered them to Sioux Falls, using the FCCLA National Programs of “Community Service and Student Body” in their projects.
Their compassion allowed them to make a difference for 12 patients at the children’s hospital.
Both projects will be presented at the Minnesota State FCCLA Competition to be held in Bloomington March 27th - 29th.
