Fulda City Council heard an update on municipal projects from Jordan Odegard, Project Engineer, Bollig Engineering. He shared that the CSAH 2 Infrastructure Improvements project is underway. Being worked on are the Fulda City Hall and Fire Hall additions, and the continued pursuit of multiple funding sources for ongoing infrastructure improvements.
The council approved payment to Hulstein Excavating in the amount of $365,075.74, which is currently owed for completed infrastructure work.
Gary Clarke, Fulda Fire Relief, sought information from the council regarding the requested reimbursement of costs to install the washing machine and drying unit inside the Fire Hall. The supplies were purchased by Fulda Fire Chief David Baumhoefner, who also completed the installation. Following council discussion, a motion was to reimburse Baumhoefner for the $472.00 that was the cost of the installation expenses.
Jesse Rucktaeschel discussed the three scenarios that he has researched regarding the purchase and financing of a new tractor, skid loader, and jetter for city work. The council decided to purchase a new jetter from Powerline Industries. Decisions regarding the tractor and skid loader were delayed for further discussion at the December 15th Special Council meeting.
Fulda Fire Department requested to purchase two ice rescue suits, applying a $250 grant from South Central Electric and Public Safety Funds. Three quotes were obtained from Alex Air, Heiman, and Jefferson Fire, with the Alex Air quote at $1,900; the Heiman Fire Equipment quote was $2,500; and the Jefferson Fire and Safety quote was $1,950. A motion was made, seconded and approved to purchase the ice rescue suits from Alex Air.
The 2026 Fee Schedule was discussed and postponed for further discussion at the December 15th special Fulda City Council meeting.
Tobacco Licenses were approved for Casey’s, Graff’s, Maynards and West Coat Vibes.
Approved was a liquor license for the new 507 Burger and Pizza Co that will open soon in the former Antonio’s location. The new owner is Bryon Thurston.
A building permit was granted to Bruce Ackerman for a utility shed plus a cement patio pad at 102 NW Third Street.
The next regular council meeting will be held on Monday, January 5, 2026 at Fulda City Hall.
A special meeting regarding the 2026 budget, and a rezoning request, will be on Monday, December 15, 2025.
