Dust off your flapper dresses and fedoras and step back in time for an evening of glamour, great food, and big band music! The Friends of the Casey Jones State Trail will host a Speakeasy-Themed Gala on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Hadley Community Center.

Guests are encouraged to dress in their best 1920s-inspired attire and enjoy a night of fun, fundraising, and fellowship — all in support of the continued enhancement and promotion of the Casey Jones State Trail.

The evening begins with a social hour from 5:00–6:00 p.m., followed by supper at 6:00 p.m. The menu will feature: Glazed ham, roast pork loin, rosemary potatoes, green beans, apple raspberry fruit salad and dessert.

Live entertainment will be provided by the Fulda Area Big Band from 7:00–9:00 p.m.

The Fulda Area Big Band has been entertaining audiences since 2005. Originally formed with musicians from the Fulda area — including alumni and then-current students of the Fulda High School Band — the group has performed at weddings, anniversaries, receptions, retirement parties, town festivals, fundraisers, adult proms, and many other special events.

Led by retired Fulda music educator Mike Peterson, the band’s repertoire features primarily dance music from the 1930s and 1940s, with a few current and popular selections added for variety and fun. Membership varies depending on performer availability and the size of band needed, but the lively sound and toe-tapping energy remain constant.

Tickets for the gala are $50 per person or $500 for a table of eight.

Tickets may be purchased at: Houser Homes, 2500 Maple Ave., Slayton Southwest Regional Development Commission, 2401 Broadway Ave., Slayton Or from Myron Koets, Pipestone, MN Organizers invite the public to enjoy an evening of great food, lively conversation, and classic big band sounds — all while supporting one of southwest Minnesota’s treasured recreational assets.
