The Minnesota Department of Agriculture estimates that over 10 percent of private wells in some townships in southwestern Minnesota have nitrate levels above the recommended limit. Could your well be one of them?
Join us for a free nitrate testing clinic of well water. Thursday, August 14th from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Horticulture Building Murray County Fairgrounds Instructions for collecting your sample of well water: - Please allow the water to run for 5 to 10 minutes before filling a Ziploc bag with at least one-half cup of water.
- Please keep samples refrigerated and do not take any samples more than 24 hours before testing. Samples should be cool when arriving at the clinic.
- For homes with nitrate removal systems, such as reverse osmosis, please take two water samples one before and one after the treatment process.
- For homes with water softeners, please take one sample - either before or after the water passes through the water softener.
Samples are analyzed on the spot and results are given directly to the homeowner.
