On January 14, 2026, US Army Vietnam Veteran, Gary Fiedler, was presented with a Quilt of Valor at the meeting of the American Legion Post 576, Avoca, MN.
The quilt is given in honor, appreciation and thanks for the veteran’s service; and to bring comfort, peace and healing to the veteran.
Gary Fiedler, entered the US Army in 1967. He completed basic training in Fort Lenardwood, MO and advanced training for Huey Helicopter Crew Chief at Fort Eustis, VA. Then on to Vietnam 1968-69. During his service he was awarded the Bronze Star for exemplary service in ground operations in hostile situations, the Air Medal with 11 oak leaf clusters for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight, the Commendation Medal for honorable service, and the Vietnam Campaign medal. He was honorably discharged in 1970, with the rank of E5, Specialist.
