CHANDLER AMERICAN LEGION AND AUXILIARY MEETING NOTES

The Chandler American Legion and Auxiliary met on Tues. afternoon, May 20 with President Patsy Buys presiding. Chaplain, Geri Sankey, gave the opening prayer. The meeting continued in usual form. The secretaries and treasurers reports were read and approved.

For new business, Poppy Day was planned. Faye Schuur and Patsy Buys planned to each take a student around Chandler. Jennet and her family planned to distribute poppies in Marshall.

The auxiliary would like to thank all those that contributed the Poppy Fund. These funds are donated to different projects for our Veterans. The Memorial Day program was planned. The Auxiliary would like to thank Linda Stevens for printing the programs. The Auxiliary would also like to thank Patsy and LeRoy Buys for planning the program and for putting out the flags etc. Also, thanks, to Julie Reitsma for playing the piano and organ.

Thanks to Reverend Seth Atsma for the Invocation and Address. Thanks also to Faye Schuur for setting up the POW/MIA table and for giving the reading “What Memorial Day Means to Me” written by a seventh grader.

For further business, the auxiliary voted to donate $200 to Samaritans Purse. With no further business, the Chaplain closed the meeting with the prayer for peace. The Auxiliary sang “America”. Faye Schuur served the lunch. The next meeting is Tuesday, June 17 at 1:30pm at the Chandler Community Center. Mary Van Eck is Hostess.
