By Mark Zinnel- Buttermaker Reporter The Hadley Buttermakers needed a warm-up game before starting the Region 10C playoffs. The Milroy Yankees were in the same predicament before starting their Corn Belt playoffs, so Sunday’s exhibition game was a perfect match for each team on Fan Appreciation Sunday. Here is the game recap:
HADLEY 21 MILROY 3 (7-Innings)
After finishing the regular season with their bats going silent, Sunday’s exhibition contest against the Milroy Yankees certainly did the trick to break the silence as Hadley pounded out 16 hits and scored 21 runs against the Yankee pitching corps to cruise to an easy victory with a huge crowd in attendance.
Jakob Olson got his first start on the mound for Hadley to face the Yankees. Hadley would start out right in the 1st. Hadley would spring into the lead when they scored 6 runs. The big hit coming from Brent Hokeness who belted a 3-run homer over the left field fence. Milroy would cut Hadley’s lead in half in the 3rd when they scored three times on 3 hits off Jakob Olson. This would be the extent of Milroy’s scoring. Hadley picked up a run in the bottom of the inning to go up 7-3.
Bryce Ahrent would take over in the 4th for Olson and would give up 2 hits to Milroy in his 2 innings on the mound. Hadley would have a field day in the bottom of the 4th when they went around the order twice and broke through with 13 runs on 8 hits to go up 20-3. Hadley’s final score would come in the 5th when they scored once for a 21-3 final.
For Hadley, Derek Kluis, Alex Petersen, and Abe Paulzine led the hitting attack with 3 hits. Brent Hokeness had 2 hits and Tucker Sorenson, Joe Larson, Lincoln Swanjord and Lincoln Graven each had 1 hit. Brent Hokeness, Derek Kluis, and Joe Larson all had 4 rbis. Abe Paulzine had 3 rbis, Dylan Kluis and Tucker Sorenson had 2 rbis; with Alex Petersen and Jaden Deacon with 1 rbi. Bryce Ahrendt was credited with the victory. Avery Weber and Josh Van Dam also saw mound duty for Hadley.

Hadley will return home for Game 2 on Saturday at 2:00. Game 3 will be in Hadley on Sunday at the same time, if needed.
