AREA YOUTH LEARN ABOUT FORENSICS, AI, WITH MURRAY COUNTY 4-H SUMMER PROGRAMS

Last week was a busy week for Murray County 4-H. The program hosted two summer programs on Monday and Tuesday. The first class, Understanding AI, was held Monday afternoon, June 16, at the Murray County 4-H Building. Emergency Management Safety Director Carl Nyquist provided the materials for the class. The sixteen youth who participated learned the basics of generative AI, as well as the positives and negatives of this new technology. Participants got to expand their technological knowledge by getting to test and compare different AI databases. Youth in grades 3-7 participated in the class.

On Tuesday, June 17, the 4-H building was home to the Crime Busters class, assisted by Slayton American Legion Commander Brad Pagel. The 57 youth who attended the class got to learn what steps investigators take at a crime scene and participate in five hands-on activities. Attendees got to practice fingerprinting themselves, identify different types of tire treads, create messages with invisible ink, and more. Youth ages kindergarten to eighth grade were in attendance.
