A.C.E. OF SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA INVITES ALL ADULTS AGE 55+ TO STAY ACTIVE AND INDEPENDENT FOR LIFE (SAIL) CLASSES

In an effort to promote healthy aging and enhance community wellness, A.C.E. of SW Minnesota is excited to promote an upcoming Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) class series happening in Slayton. These specially designed fitness sessions are tailored to meet the needs of older adults, providing a safe and enjoyable environment to improve strength, balance, and overall fitness.

The SAIL program, developed by Washington State Department of Health, focuses on exercises that enhance flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, and muscle strength. These classes are particularly beneficial for older adults looking to maintain their independence and quality of life through regular physical activity.

Participants in the SAIL classes can expect: - Evidence-Based Exercises: Each session incorporates scientifically proven exercises that help prevent falls, improve mobility, and boost overall health.

- Qualified Instructors: Classes are led by certified instructors who specialize in senior fitness, ensuring participants receive safe and effective guidance.

- Community Support: A welcoming and supportive environment where participants can connect with peers and build lasting friendships.

“Our goal with the SAIL program is to empower older adults to take charge of their health and maintain their independence as they age,” said Joyce Wiekeraad, Murray Co. Program Manager for A.C.E. of SW Minnesota. “Physical activity is crucial for healthy aging, and these classes are designed to make exercise accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”

The SAIL classes will be held every Monday and Thursday morning from 10am-11am at the Christ Lutheran Church at 2959 Queen Ave., Slayton, MN beginning on Thursday, September 4th. Classes are open to individuals 55 and above, and no previous exercise experience is necessary to join. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle.
