Falls Prevention Awareness Day is September 22, 2021. The first day of autumn is the designated time of year when National, state, and local partners collaborate to educate others about the impact of falls, share fall prevention strategies, and advocate for the expansion of evidence-based community fall prevention programs. Fall prevention is an investment in independence and supports quality of life as one ages.

LOOSE GRAVEL MUSIC FESTIVAL

The new Loose Gravel Music Festival will be held on Saturday, July 31st at the Wilder Outdoor Theater near Walnut Grove. Food, beverages, open mic and a full day of good music are in store. This festival brings bluegrass and Americana music right to you. Enjoy the Maple Street Band and the Divers with upbeat tunes, good playing and laugh-outloud shtick.

MURRAY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY AWARDED INVENTORY GRANT

Did you know that the Murray County Museum has the original blueprints for the Great Oasis drainage project of 1913 and the original blueprints for the Dinehart Holt House, or an artist’s rendition for a courthouse that was never built but designed in the 1960s? Did you know that the Murray County Museum has a collection of maps rolled into cardboard tubes that are at risk of deteriorating? Well, the staff at the museum are finally going to be able to save all these documents, and many more, thanks to a grant from the Minnesota Historical Society.
