GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark April is now completed and we are in May. As for events we are finally getting fairly frequent rains. The ground needs it for sure. Most gardens and farm field could use more. A long term forecast predicts rains coming about once a week. These showers are nice. One comedian said he appreciated showers too but not outside. His shower location he liked most was in the bathroom.

Otherwise this writer can remember Father. When he couldn’t work in the fields, there were always rainy day projects to be done. At least the rain also gets our garden plants started. And also the trees and bushes we’ve planted.

There are some noteworthy events coming in May to be mentioned. The first day of fishing will be May 11th. And at the end of the month will be Memorial Day, also known as Decoration Day. And then there’s more work to be done at home too - finish planting the garden, the first lawn mowing and more Spring work to be done.

This will keep you busy. Thankfully the days are getting longer too. Get as much done outside as possible before summer’s heat tuckers you out.

And be sure to water your house plants too. Until next week.
