WINIFRED “NAN” H. JOHNSON

Nan Johnson was born on April 23, 1928, in Graham Lakes Township, Nobles County, Minnesota to Theodore and Della Jones Chepa. She grew up on the family farm and attended Country School Denton District #31. On May 14, 1947, she and Lloyd Curtis “Tootie” Johnson were married at the Lutheran Church in Avoca, MN. Following their marriage, they farmed near Dundee, MN and raised their six children. Nan was Tootie’s right-hand woman on the farm. In 1974 they purchased the Korner Tap in Dundee while continuing to farm. In 1975 they moved to Dundee and built a new home. In the early 1980’s they sold the Tap. Tootie passed away on January 19, 1988.

Nan remained living in Dundee. Nan passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Sanford Westbrook Hospital in Westbrook, MN at the age of 96. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Dundee. Nan enjoyed game shows, western shows, her dogs and cats, playing cards and the occasional trip to the casino.

Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Linda and Jim Pederson of Westbrook, MN, Dean Johnson of Paris, TX, Bonnie and Bill Patterson of Westbrook, MN, and Doran Johnson and Teresa Mollema of Dundee, MN, one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Johnson of Hasting, MN, 13 grandchildren, 25 greatgrandchildren, two great-greatgrandchildren, one sister, Mary Schwartz and her husband, Tom of Madison, SD and many nieces and nephews and their families. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, Larry and Alan Johnson, daughter-in-law, Barb Johnson, granddaughter, Lisa Johnson, two sisters, Gen Czepa, Donna Anderson, and seven brothers, Donald, Ben, Douglas, Leon, Hollis, Jerry, and Marty Chepa.

A gathering of friends and family will be on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Dundee Lutheran Church fellowship hall from 2-4 p.m. A private interment will be held at Dundee Lutheran Cemetery.
