GOOD NEWS

We hadn’t seen each other since we served as Scout Snipers in Vietnam in 1970. I hadn’t even spoken to ‘Frenchy’ in all those years. He was a French Canadian. He worked construction in New York and decided to see if he could find his ‘old buddy.’

Needless to say, I was very happy to hear from him. We talked of many things and reminisced of our time those many years ago. However, when I told him that I had become a Christian in 1972 and loved living for Jesus, he couldn’t get off the phone fast enough. In my forty years of ministry I have found this to be common among many, even those who claim to be Christians. God is the Judge of course, but it makes me wonder if they really know and love the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Jesus said in Mark 9:38, “For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

When I read my Bible I do not find ‘closet Christians’ anywhere. We are all to tell others the good news; to proclaim the message of reconciliation. (2Cor. 5: 17-21). Are you a Christian? Do you witness to others the good news of Jesus, so that they can know that they are saved - if they surrender their lives to Christ? (1 John 5:11-13; John 1:12-13). I thank God if you do. There are only two things on this earth that are eternal. One is the eternal Word of God; the other is people; everything else will one day be destroyed by fire. Will anyone be in heaven as a result of your ministry here on earth? God bless.
