GET THE DIRT

This is a good time to do major pruning chores. Do not prune oaks at this time; the open wounds may increase the risk of disease.

Finish digging and dividing perennials as soon as possible. Wait until spring to divide Siberian iris, astilbes, delphinium, and other slow-to-establish perennials.

Enjoy the harvest. Make any notes of changes needed for next year.
