BOYS GOLF STARTED SEASON AT MARSHALL INVITATIONAL
The MCC Boys Golf team started their season off on a beautiful day at the Marshall Golf Course. After a few meet cancellations, the players were itching to get outside and play a round. The Rebels had a big feat going out and playing in the 18-hole Marshall Invite without any practice outside, but welcomed the challenge.
The boys did well but came up against some stiff competition during the tournament. Coach Kim DeLong noted that most of the players stated their short game needs improvement going forward. McKade Gillette finished in the front of the pack for the Rebels and finished in 49th place out of 86 golfers. Gillette carded two pars on the back nine, where he knocked off 7 strokes compared to his front nine.
The Rebels are hoping for improved weather conditions in the coming weeks so they can continue improving their game out on the links. MCC is scheduled to face off in a duel against HLOF/WWG at home on Thursday (4/14) and a triangular against RRC and Mountain Lake at Sanborn on Monday (4/18).

GIRLS PLAY FIRST ROUNDS OF SEASON IN PIPESTONE
While the boys traveled to Marshall, MCC’s girls team headed to Pipestone for their first meet of the season. The weather was sunny and slightly breezy, but outstanding compared to the first few weeks of the spring sports season.
The Pipestone Country Club was the perfect starting point for the girls’ first round of golf. The course wasn’t in ideal condition, but very playable. The girls struggled initially on the greens put ting. They had to make adjustments for how slow the greens were playing. It was also an adjustment driving into open air versus a net. Many golfers had to make adjustments to keep the ball playable.
The Rebels faced off against just one other varsity player from Pipestone. So, it was a good opportunity for the girls to work on their individual games and make adjustments on their swings. MCC’s Ciera Tutt and Elie Meyer led throughout the match, playing stroke for stroke. In the end the two ended up tying for 1st place. After the meet most of the Rebels stated their driving and putting needed improvement.
MCC Scores:
Elie Meyer (48)
Ciera Tutt (48)
Rachel Huso (54)
Ava Johnson (60)
Karlie Schuur (61)
Lizzie Daniels (81)
REBEL GIRLS TEE OFF IN MARSHALL
It was a blustery day for MCC at the girls 18-hole Marshall Invitational. With one meet under their belt, most of the girls felt more prepared for the meet. However, with it being their first 18-hole tournament of the season they knew it’d be a challenge.
The Rebels shot well, but were plagued with cold temperatures, rain, and unforgiving winds. Ciera Tutt came in with the low for MCC with a 102. She played consistently throughout the day but wasn’t able to knock down her scores in the conditions. Behind her for the Rebels was Elie Meyer with a 109. Meyer carded 2 pars throughout her round.
Though the weather was not ideal, the golfers were happy to have the opportunity to play. The Rebels hope the cold
