Slayton City Council met on Monday, April 18th. All council members were present. The meeting opened with the approval of the agenda as well as the minutes from the April 4th meeting and claims for the month. Josh Malchow, City Administrator, pointed out that the Al Gertsema family donated a nice bench for Gullord Park in his memory.
A reminder to the public that the City of Slayton Board of Equalization will hold its meeting on Wednesday, April 27th at 7:00pm.
The item of unfinished business, Rupp Variance Appeal, was postponed as Doug Rupp is not back from AZ yet. But should be available for May 2nd meeting.
The Council moved on to new business. The first item was to approve Joe Larson as the Pool Operator. He has completed his classes, and this will allow Sal to train him over the next few years. They also approved the purchase of a new thermal imaging camera for the Fire Department. This was made possible by Nobles Cooperative Electric who had a funding option of $10,000 to be able to donate to the City of Slayton Fire Department for the purchase of 8 thermal imaging cameras and chargers for the department. Chris LeTendre explained the process (he met with the Nobles Board and provided them with a PowerPoint of the department’s needs and wants) and that these had originally been on the Capital Improvement Budget for this year.
There was no other business to discuss and the meeting was adjourned.
