By Arnold Krusemark This will be the Labor Day edition of this column. As mentioned last week, Labor Day is one of the unofficial ends of Summer. Each year this writer’s family has tried to take in the festivities in Tracy. This included the parade on Monday, then the midway and finally a lunch stand.
In many years past once the parade was over we went down to the city park to hear the speech - usually from a politician. This ended one year when the Mayor got on the stage and announced no speaker that year - not an election year.
Then school, started the next day and gardening hours became reduced to mainly weekends only. Fortunately the garden produce was in good supply. And then it was also the start of getting the house and yard ready for winter. Whatever outside work was needed it was now time to get busy and get it done.
Happily the weather was still warm enough. And Fall plantings to be done. More in future columns.
Back inside the house - fall cleaning plus our house plant care, not just watering. That kept us busy.
Until next week.
