In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus tells us the parable of the widow woman who needed justice and the pagan, selfish, un-just judge who refused to give her the justice she needed. The judge neither feared God, nor did he regard man.
However, the widow kept pestering him day in and day out until he finally was worn down with her pleadings and gave her what she desired. Jesus then said in verse seven, “And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him though He bears long with them?” In prayer, we need to be persistent in our faith, and giving God lots of worship, praise, and thanksgiving -believing the answer will come. James 5:16 tells us that the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
One thing I have noticed over the years is that many Christians have given up on prayer; and others go through the motions but do not really pray, believing that God is going to answer their prayer. Thank God for the many who do. Jesus said in Luke 18:1 “Men always ought to pray and not lose heart.” To lose heart means to entertain the idea that God will not answer your prayer; it means you are giving into doubt, fear, unbelief, discouragement and so forth.
Losing heart is no way to get prayers answered. Jesus said in Mt. 21:22 “And all things, whatsoever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” Keep in mind that we are told in James 1:6, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord.
Our faith is strengthened by tests and trials and continually feeding our inner man on the Word of God. See (James 1:2-4 and Romans 5:1-5). In tough times, maintain your faith in God; He will see you through it. God bless.
