FINANCES ARE GOOD; COVID NUMBERS ARE LOW

The Murray County Medical Center Board met on Wednesday, April 27. Chairperson William Wassenaar led the meeting. Board secretary Gerald McCord attended via interactive technology from Waltham MA.

Dr. Steven Snow presented the report of the Medical Staff Meeting. Masks continue to be worn in patient areas of the facility. Approval was given for the reappointment of active staff members Tracy Hansen, CNP and David Axtman PAC. Recruiting has continued for an additional medical provider. So far no one has been found who is a good fit for the facility or one that has continued interest in a practice at MCMC.

Sanford representative Dale Gillogly reported that Covid cases have dropped considerably. Cases are probably being under reported as home testing has become easily available. There are currently few hospitalized cases at San-ford or at MCMC and those cases have been mild. Sanford also continued to recruit medical personnel and has been active at local job fairs with positive results. Experiences during Covid have shown an increased interest in virtual health care options that are being explored.

Finances for the month of March ended up at a positive $181,230 of net income. Gross revenue for the month was $2.5M. Cash on hand, including $635,000 of Covid funds, totaled $7.9M. Not all figures for the month were included and others have been adjusted as the conversion to EPIC finances is in process.

A committee consisting of Molly Malone, Jerry Mc-Cord, Luke Schryvers and Travis Smith has been formed to develop a contract for the CEO position.

Presented for the information of the Board, an additional set of laparoscopic instruments is being purchased. This will allow Dr. Harms to operate without a wait of 2-3 hours for sterilization of the current set. Cost of these will be $9,414.

CEO Luke Schryvers reported the hiring for several positions. The new Clinic Manager is Brooklyn Boerboom. She has been a hospital RN at MCMC. The new Marketing Manager will be Amber Sorenson. A Dietary Cook and a casual pharmacist have also been hired recently. The expected replacement of the surgery HVAC system has been delayed until June due to equipment delays. There will be no surgeries scheduled during the 10-14 days for completing the project. Covid vaccines and boosters are still available through the clinic. Covid testing supplies are abundant with donations made to local bible camps and organizations.

Hospital week will be observed May 8-14 with special events for staff and the community.
