CHANDLER AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY

The Chandler American Legion Auxiliary met on Tuesday evening, May 17 with President Patsy Buys presiding. Chaplain, Audrey gave the opening devotional.

For new business, Patsy reported we have a new member. We welcomed her to our Auxiliary.

Patsy read thank you notes from Samaritain’s Purse and Hospice of Murray County for the donations we sent to them.

Rebecca and Kennedy Vander Schaaf were planning to distribute poppies. The Auxiliary would like to thank all those that contributed to the Poppy Fund, these funds will be donated to several Veteran’s projects through out the coming year. Also thanks to those that attended the Memorial Day Program, thank you to everyone that honored and supported our veterans.

Plans are being made for a flag burning ceremony to be held in the future. Save your “old” flags for a proper way to dispose of old flags.

Plans are being made to host county installation of the American Legion Auxiliary units in Murray County that are invited to attend.

With no further business, Chaplin, Audrey gave the closing prayer and the Auxiliary sang “America.”

The Legion joined the Auxiliary for lunch hosted by Patsy and Linda.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday evening June 21 at 7:00 PM at the Chandler Community Center.

Mary Van Eck is hostess. were created to help people and places far beyond what my eye could see.

I had to trust people I did not know, to do a job for reasons I did not fully understand because I live in a world which revolves around others much more than it does around me.

You see, I can only see from my perspective. I give input based on my perspective, and try as I might to explain my perspective to others, others may not understand as it’s not their perspective.

So what can I do? The best I can offer is to try to understand the perspective of others even if it means they may not understand mine. Rather than trying to be understood, maybe it’s more important that I try to understand. It doesn’t mean I have to agree with the perspective of others, but perhaps I can learn why they think as they do.

The words of St. Francis of Assisi are rooted in this very concept. He wrote, “O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand. For it is in giving that we receive. It is in pardoning that we are pardoned. And it is dying we are born to eternal life.”

If we try to understand others more than to be understood, perhaps it might offer clarity in the Light of His mercy and grace. Amen.
