GERALD L. BLOCH

Jerry Bloch was born on August 6, 1941, in Slayton, Minnesota to Leo and Julia Bloch. He was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Jerry grew up on the family farm north of Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1959. Jerry then attended Augustana University where he met his wife Kathleen Krull.

Harley Wahl, age 91 of Lake Shetek passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Murray County Medical Center in Slayton. Harley Otto Wahl was born to Samuel and Amelia (Wenzel) Wahl at home in Murray County, Minnesota on February 19, 1931.

WILLIAM “BILL” FUERSTENBERG

William ‘Bill’ Fuerstenberg was born on January 28, 1942 in Adrian, Minnesota to Clarence and Teresa (Finke) Fuerstenberg. He grew up in Fulda and graduated from Fulda High School in 1960. Bill served in the US Navy from 1960-1964, and the Reserves until 1966. On December 27, 1965 Bill was united in marriage to Sharon Fury and they raised their four children in Fulda.

KEVIN K. ARNOLD

Kevin K. Arnold, age 66 of Tracy formerly of Holly Township, passed away with his family by his side Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Sanford Sioux Falls Hospital.

CHARMAINE R. HEGER

Charmaine Heger, the daughter of Bernard and Janice (Carlson) Ramert, was born on May 26, 1954 in Slayton, MN. She grew up on a farm east of Lime Creek, MN and attended St. Gabriel’s Catholic School and graduated from the Fulda High School. Charmaine was united in marriage to Larry Heger on September 6. 1975 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda. After their marriage they lived and farmed in rural Fulda and she worked at the Fulda Bakery. They continued to live on the farm after their retirement in 2018. Charmaine passed away on Monday, May 30, 2022 at the Murray County Medical Center in Slayton at the age of 68. She was a member of Solid Rock Church in Worthington, MN where she was part of Bible Study and was happy to be involved in church activities. Charmaine was part of 5 community plays in Fulda and was a master gardener. She enjoyed raising chickens, doing puzzles, playing the accordion, fishing, traveling (especially to Branson), cooking and baking and having people over to the house. Charmain loved spending time with her grandkids and she loved her Lord.

JAMIE J. L. BERNSTIEN

Jamie John Lynn Bernstien was born in Fergus Falls, MN on February 3, 1971. He died on November 26, 2021 at Sanford Aberdeen Medical Center.

GARY M. SCHOER

Gary Milan Schoer, age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Nazareth Health in Stoughton, Wis. He was born on May 17, 1941, in Revere, MN, the son of the late Harold and Iris Schoer.

DONALD “DON” M. BALK

Donald “Don” Martin Balk, age 67, of Worthington, died Saturday, May 14, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born August 2, 1954, in Adrian, to Lloyd and Mildred (Lais) Balk. Don graduated from the Worthington High School in 1972. After high school, Don worked many different jobs which allowed him the time and freedom to enjoy his spur of the moment trips with the boys. Then in 1979 he moved to Sioux Falls where he worked at Pheoll Manufacturing distributing nuts and bolts.

JAMES “JIM” D. ENGELKES

Jim Engelkes was born on September 1, 1944, on a farm near Dundee, Minnesota to Engelke “Bill” and Violet Boots Engelkes. The family later moved to a farm near Lime Creek, MN and Jim attended Fulda School. Jim served in the Minnesota National Guard from 1963 to 1966. On June 20, 1975, he and Diane Lucker were married in Avoca, MN. Following their marriage, they made their home in Slayton and Jim worked for Rupp Construction, Reker Construction and the Murray County Highway Department operating heavy equipment. Jim also did work for Ransom and Wilmont Townships in Nobles County. Jim passed away at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the age of 77. He was a member of the Avoca American Legion Post. Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping, cleaning and polishing his vehicles, tinkering or fixing things, snowmobiling, watching Nascar-rooting for anyone driving a Ford, and watching football especially the Packers.
