On August 15, 2021 at approximately 8:38 a.m., Murray County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call reporting that an airplane had lost its front landing gear upon takeoff from the City of Slayton Municipal Airport. The plane was a 2007 Esqual VM-1 piloted by Ryan Schuur of Chandler, MN and had no other passengers. Schuur had reported to another local pilot that he had broken the front landing gear and was going to be making an emergency landing.

August 9th-August 11th, Murray County Medical Center collected school supplies for MCC and Fulda school districts. The supplies collected went towards helping underprivileged students that may not have all of the tools they need to start the school year off strong. Over the three-day span, Ludolph Bus Service had one of its busses parked at the hospital for folks to stop by and drop off supplies. After the end of the drive, the supplies were split evenly to be dropped off at each school.

With back-to-school activities just around the corner, many parents are working hard to make sure their children are prepared for the upcoming school year. One important way to do this is by making sure our children are safe and healthy with a comprehensive physical and eye exam.

Court Queen of Peace met after the 5 PM Mass on Aug 3., 2021 with 15 members present. A sandwich, salad supper was served by the officers. Regent Joann Halbur called the meeting to order after a prayer by Father Thien Nguyen. Secretary and Treasurer’s reports were read. Financial secretary, Jean Eich, reported that there still 10 members needing to pay dues. Lee Crowley, Support Our Seminarians chair, read correspondence from Isiah Olsem who is pursuing his first year in theology.
