Rebel Roundup MCC ELEMENTARY BACKPACK PROGRAM

MCC Elementary is helping to meet the nutritional needs of our students in Junior Kindergarten – Grade 6 by offering the Backpack Program again this year. The goal of the Backpack Program is to reduce childhood hunger by sending food packages home with identified students each weekend. This is a time when students are unable to access school breakfast and lunch programs. Supplemental food programs such as this have become popular around the country in recent years. MCC Elementary currently has 36 students participating in our Backpack Program

GOOD NEWS

Scripture tells us that at the end of the Church Age, Jesus will return for those who are His followers. However, Paul also tells us that before Jesus returns there will be a falling away. (2 Thess. 2:1-3). Falling away means that many who call themselves Christians will no longer be serving Christ. They quit Church; quit supporting the gospel; quit studying the Bible; quit praying on a regular basis unless a crisis occurs, then they want God’s blessings. These people are deceiving themselves. The apostle James says we are to be doers of the Word and not hearers only, for if we are hearers only we deceive ourselves.

The Benefits of Metta

kindness, is a Metta, or loving central concept and practice within Buddhism. Simply put, metta is an attitude of friendliness and benevolence towards others. We can show this benevolence towards other persons, but also to animals, and perhaps even to plants, which though perhaps not sentient in the way that we are, certainly can be helped or harmed. The person who has cultivated loving kindness has a beautiful soul, in contrast to the person who is angry and rancorous, whose soul is as twisted as his angry and bitter face. The benefits of developing loving kindness are many and varied. You will sleep better. You will be healthier overall. You will have better relationships, with less chance of hurting or being hurt by others. The person who has developed loving kindness to perfection has no enemies, and thus no one would want to harm them. Finally, this person will be reborn into a heavenly realm after death.
