The program was originally used to teach individuals with dyslexia how to read, but now many educators realize that the program is applicable to all learners. The program uses explicit, systematic, sequential, multisensory instruction to teach the fundamental structure of language. Instruction begins with simple sound/symbol relationships and progresses to more complex concepts. Each five-part lesson plan uses a student’s visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning pathways to capitalize on their strengths while remediating deficits.
