LOCAL OFFICIALS OF MURRAY SWCD MEET WITH STATE LEGISLATORS

Local conservation leaders advocated for a new state funding initiative for Soil and Water Conservation Districts at a recent legislative briefing and meetings at the State Capitol March 9-10 in St. Paul.

NAPS (SECOND HARVEST)

FULDA - Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (NAPS) in the Fulda area, sponsored by Second Harvest Heartland distribution will be by A.C.E. of Southwest Minnesota – Murray County and held at the Fulda Food Shelf at 305 S. Lafayette Ave., Fulda MN. Distribution will take place on Monday, March 21st, from 1:15 – 1:45pm. Remember if you cannot be there, please have your proxy pick your items up for you. FIREARMS SAFETY COURSE IN SLAYTON

Minnesota Firearms Safety classes will be held at the Beaver Creek Archery Club in Slayton (1945 Engebretson Ave) on the following dates: March 22, 24, 29, 31 and April 5 and 7, 2022. Class sessions will run from 5:30 – 8:30pm. The field day is scheduled for Saturday, April 9. Attendance at all class sessions and the field day are mandatory for receiving a firearms safety certificate.

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY MN GIRLS STATE

The 75th session of American Legion Auxiliary Minnesota Girls State will be held June 12-18, 2022 @ Bethel University in St. Paul. Any 2021-2022 High School Junior girl interested in attending is welcome to apply. We have scholarships available.

DIABETES PREVENTION: A “WEIGHTY” IDEA

Benjamin Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure…” and Medicare has adopted this “weighty” idea. Medicare covers preventative services at 100% to prevent and/or detect diseases early when they are most easily treated. Diabetes is one such disease.

Learning what to do when you become eligible for Medicare can seem overwhelming. This class is for people who will be new to Medicare and would like to learn about Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. Topics will include a comprehensive introduction to Medicare including what Medicare covers, supplemental insurance and Part D prescription coverage. During the class you will learn the Medicare enrollment details, how to get the most from your benefits and how to research your Medicare plan options using the Medicare.gov site.

Life with all its business took their time and Jesus was moved to the back seat.
