By Arnold Krusemark September is now half over. Autumn (or Fall) will officially arrive next week. Outside some of our vegetation has also announced the coming of Autumn. Nearby is a field of field corn. Two weeks ago all the corn was in total green. This week they are mostly brown awaiting the corn picker and harvest.

Learning what to do when you become eligible for Medicare can seem overwhelming. This class is for people who will be new to Medicare and would like to learn about Medicare Parts A, B, C and D. Topics will include a comprehensive introduction to Medicare including what Medicare covers, supplemental insurance and Part D prescription coverage. During the class you will learn the Medicare enrollment details, how to get the most from your benefits and how to research your Medicare plan options using the Medicare.gov site.

The Crime Victim Services program of New Horizons Crisis Center has been awarded a community impact grant from the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) in the amount of $32,500. These funds will be used by them to provide advocacy, support and empowerment to those whose lives are impacted by sexual assault and general crime. They will also work to reduce the occurrence and impact of crime and victimization in our communities. This work aligns with UWSWMN’s safety and well-being priority area.

An Offering of Stability Making my way into the kitchen brought silence. It’s easy to enjoy the stillness within the confines of stability, predictability— an offering it is. Too quiet, I thought as it wasn’t all that early. I peered out the kitchen window and recognized the pick-up parked in the driveway. All was well.

On Monday August 29th the Murray County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a local fisherman of a possible vehicle in Lake Sarah. On Tuesday August 30th, Murray County Deputies responded to the location provided by the fisherman.
